Music Changes Lives

Together, we can make a difference

Has Music Changes Lives tugged a heartstring? If you would like to help our charity amplify its mission, inspire positive change and provide regular support to young musicians in the UK, you can support us in the following three ways:

1. Please donate what you can

Every donation made – no matter how big or small – will bring us one step closer towards making music education accessible to all. Please also consider becoming one of our regular donors, funding our three powerful programmes through monthly donations.

All donations will be doubled on Giving Tuesday (30 November) and throughout the month of December, thanks to generous match funding from Harriet’s Trust. This means a £10, £20 or £50 donation would see a total of £20, £40 or £100 go directly towards supporting our young musicians and help us reach our fundraising target of £20,000.

Give the gift of music to a young person this winter

Every young person deserves to experience the joy of playing music with others. But in the UK, thousands of young people aged 11-18 currently lack musical opportunities because of the significant daily challenges in their lives.

Whether they’re faced with barriers such as economic deprivation, physical and mental health conditions, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties, being in care or acting as a young carer, Orchestras for All (OFA) believes that access to a high-quality music education is an absolute right.

The Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing cuts to music funding in schools has made the situation much worse. That’s why it’s more important than ever for us to support the wellbeing of vulnerable young people, enriching their lives through the power of music and giving them the opportunity to boost their confidence, forge lifelong friendships and improve vital social and communication skills.

Please support our life-changing work this winter and help young people who need it the most.

Before joining National Orchestra for All, a lot of things I had auditioned for didn’t let me in because I have autism and other special needs.

How your donation could help aspiring young musicians

At Orchestras for All, 97 per cent of our income comes from charitable donations.

We rely on this incredible generosity to deliver our three life-changing programmes – here’s how your support could help:

£10 a month

Help us provide food and accommodation for one young musician attending an orchestral course through our charity.

£20 a month

Assist our wellbeing team to make vital calls, checking in with the most vulnerable young musicians we work with.

£50 a month

Help us to pay for one under-resourced secondary school to attend a regional Modulo Meet at an iconic UK venue.

£100 a month

Contribute towards the fees for hiring a professional orchestral tutor to teach during our spring and summer courses.

£150 a month

Sponsor one young musician to participate in National Orchestra for All – the UK’s only completely inclusive national youth orchestra – for a whole year.

Let’s keep breaking down barriers

Orchestras for All is making great progress in breaking down some of the most common barriers to orchestral participation, having made a difference to the lives of hundreds of young people after 10 years of inspiring work. Our efforts even led to us being shortlisted in the Impact category at the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards 2021 – something we are so very proud of.

This winter, we’re launching our Music Changes Lives campaign to spread awareness of these growing issues in the arts sector.

Please support our campaign and make a difference today.

Orchestras for All is amazing! I don’t know how else to describe it. It feels like a family of people from all over the UK but not everyone is the same. Although there’s differences between us, we can be part of something bigger together.
